As of last week I thought basketball season was over until June when Summer's AAU team would start up and play the Caprock tournaments here in Lubbock maybe a hoop 10 one in Amarillo. But the coach and player and parents decided to take a bigger loop this year. And play some other cities and tournaments. On one hand this is a good thing and on the other it is not. One way is you are always creating that sense of this is a big game and a big tournament and you have to win. Pressure the only way to play under the gun is put it in between your eyes and cock the hammer. That said!!!!! Sports or games are suppose to be fun and if every game is life or death you will finally get to that point you don't care anymore pull the trigger I quit... This is the problem I see school ball here is a pressure cooker. Every girls wants to play for a top ten ranked school . And all these girls play AAU to keep there skills up during the Summer and to have fun that is right basketball is a game and you are suppose to play it for fun. That is the only way you can perform and get better at any thing is relax and have fun who cares if you win or lose did you make some 3's some reverse layups some spin moves some behind the back passes some steals in to fast breaks make plays be a player that is whats important. That is how you get better not by playing every game as a must win. Sure you have to have that but not every game it gets tedious and the players don't play their best they become stifled under the false pressure. It is a constant battle you tell them it's just a game go out and have fun and play your game and the other people are saying this is a big game this team is real good and we have to win. Most people fold like a cheap lawn chair under pressure so why put your kids in that position. Make AAU the fun league and the school the pressure cooker......on to something else
I am going to coach a boys high school team this off season for MOB I am excited and looking forward to bring my mental game to some boys who my guess is are trying to get their skill level up to make their high school teams and I am going to do everything I know to get these boys off the winning mentality and on to being players. Get in the now and perform because it is fun and they are good at it. Their is only two reasons to play a game it's fun and you are good at it. They don't pay you to play they don't whip or beat you if you don't play no you play because you want to. And if you are not good at a game you don't play it. And it's not fun So you are good at it and it is fun that is why you are here. Now we can go to work.. Get these boys skill level up so they can make the team at school........

Basketball Season Over
Well it's over another great year of basketball for the Shallowater Middle School all in all it was a stellar performance for both teams the 7th and 8th. The 7th went undefeated I think they were 18 and zero what a outstanding record but it wasn't all easy they had some stiff competition from Frenship and Cooper. These teams pushed them to the limit and they were able to answer the call and find away to win. The secret to the success of this teams is this they are a team they play together better than any bunch of girls I have ever seen at this age. They just get it.. Its a team game no ball hogs needed.... Now for the players. The number one suspect is Morgan Bennett An all around ball handler and shooter who runs the team from the point guard position she can push the ball about as good as anyone anywhere. #2 is Brandy Goulette is a pure shooter she has a effortless two handed release and is a solid ball handler. #3 Kandice Pope this girl comes off the bench and handles the ball and is a shooter to boot a starter on any other team. #4 Kelyn Morris strong down low a lot of rebounds and an excellent free throw shooter. #5 Kristen McDonald this girl is the most improved player on the team a post player who makes a lot of points and rebounds. #6 Kaley Shotts another post player who is getting her legs under her and is making a big difference around the basket every game. #7 I think her name is Taylor Tentens she is another point guard who comes off the bench and you don't lose a step with her on the court she is fast a ball handler and a shooter another girl who would be a starter on any other team.# 8 Abbey Goodwyn yet another post player and a good one and a girl who would be a starter on any other team. #9 Kaylee Jackson unfortunately she was hurt in a motorcycle accident at the first of the season and was unable to play. She is a very good basketball player that is why she is on this team.
Now for the 8th graders. They were 14 and 4 and had a really good season. So here are the players #1 is Kelsey Smith she is the offensive power of the team an all around player with post player size and point guard ball handling skills can take it to the basket or shoot from outside. #2 Summer Pearson is a true power forward takes the ball to the basket and shoots from outside and is the best defensive play on the team..#3Hannah Almsted is another post player with guard skills can shoot from outside or take it to the hoop. #4Shelby Johnston is a true post player tall strong her moves under and around the basket get better and better every year if she gets big enough she mite be able to play at the next level.. #5 Carli McCravy is a great point guard she is fast a good ball handler a shooter can attack the basket with moves. needs to break down the other team and pass more.#6 Allyssa Johnson is a guard who comes off the bench and is fast and a good shooter and you don't lose anything with her on the court. She will do her job. #7 Tatum Cagle is another guard who comes off the bench and plays some good hard minutes and usually puts some points on the board she is a good shooter. #8 Kelsey Bigham is a post player who is finally getting her feet under her and is becoming a player she needs more playing time..#9 Maci Sparkman is a guard who is very fast and plays some real tough defense and has a instinct for releasing to the basket for the fast break she need more playing time. #10 Macy McLellan here is another guard who needs playing time. That is the only way to use your skills is to play enough to be able to relax . If you can't relax you can't use your skills.....
Now here is the problem the 8th grade B-team has a lot of really good players and next year where are they going to play we don't have a freshman b-team yet.. Well I would just like to say Brenley Irvin is a really good basketball player. And so is Katelynn Parra, Ariah Robertson , Sheree Satterwhite, Alicia Sims, Hannah Ayers I know I have forgot some players but this is just my opinion.... So take it with a grain of salt...

Browntown Game
Last night I went to a basketball game at Brownfield it was no different than any other game this year the fact it was the last game was not a factor. The fact our girls have never lost to them that was not a factor. The fact they are a poor ethnic school on the decline in a dieing town with little opportunity. Those are all facts but they have no bearing on the game between young girls... Wrong these are all contributing factor as to what happened last night. A bit of history two years ago our girls won the National Little Dribbler Championship
and beat you got it Brownfield. Now our girls have keep growing being mostly caucasian and Brownfield are mostly Hispanic and have stopped growing they are all going to be 5 foot to 5' 5' and our girls are tall 5'5 to 6'foot. So the teams are not even competitive any more our girls are to big to fast and are better athletes better basketball players. So here we are watching this blowout 20 to 10 first half and our girls have missed a ton of shots it could have been 40 to 10 easily. Now the referees were a short Hispanic man about 5'foot tall and a Hispanic woman about the same. Now you could tell the woman had never refereed a game before and the man was making calls all over the court. I her zone and his. That in itself is wrong. It is unprofessional and unheard of in the ranks of officiating. That is disrespectful to your partner calling the game. So we have a crew that is out of balance. Now to add insult to injury the man starts calling a home town game. That is right everybody has seen it when a official starts to make to many calls and to many for the home team. This is part of the game but he was just blatant he was out of control. The problem was no matter how much cheating he did it was not going to change the out come of the game. The big dog kills the little dog every time.No matter how much you try and fix the fight. Now for the economic impact after the game we were going to go out to eat there in Browntown. But after such a sorry game we drove all the way back to Lubbock to eat. We are not going to spend any money in Brownfield and next year we are not even going to the game there if they play there we are not going to contribute any money to that town. After the game when they were shaking hands one of there players when told she played a good game she: replied KISS MY ASS when our coach told her not to talk like that she told her to shut up you can't tell me what to do. It is really sad to hear 8 grade girls talk like that. But it is a product of the town where there is no opportunity people can get really trashy and it rubs off on there children. The only thing they have is to live through their children and when they lose they take it hard. So they try and cheat. With their little hometown referees. That is what happens when you have to play little dieing towns here in west texas. Just my opinion..........

Golf Etiquette
We had a beautiful day yesterday 70ish no wind clear blue skies. A perfect day for a round of golf with my teenage daughter. In the middle of the winter we don't get many days like this here in west Texas this time of year. We need to practice and stay in touch with our golf game through the off season and to get a break from basketball and all the pressure of having to play at a top ranked basketball school. It starts to wear on you mentally after a while. So a relaxing round of golf no score no expectations feel good about the good shots and laugh about the bad ones. That is what we needed and that is what we went out there for. But because it was a great day a lot of other people had the same idea. We play at a public course and on the nice days it is full and it is slow you just have to accept it and take your time and play in your slot and enjoy yourself it is backed up one through eighteen. There is no point in playing through. Now you get those old men who think they can play and are in a hurry. Here is the problem in golf the course books to many and to close together and some people play fast and some play slow. And some have no respect or regard for others and they think if they start hitting on top of the group in front they will speed up. They are like ostriches with there heads in the sand they can't see the course is full and just take there time and enjoy playing the game and the day. No they are in a hurry they won't to ruin your day because the are stupid people who can't see the big picture and all they want to do is push push push these people need to find another sport and give up on golf they will never be any good at this game because they don't have the mental toughness and patience golf requires. Pool Bowling anything but golf a game that requires patience patience patience. Anyway I had to get into some guys face and be belligerent to get it through his stupid head not to hit the ball until after we were off the green. I am amazed at how stupid some people can be this is a serious situation people are killer every year from getting hit in the head by a golf ball. WE were playing a Reese Golf Course and this is the first time I have had this problem there. But I will never play Shadow Hills because that is all there is over there Grumpy old men who think they can play golf. Try to have a little golf etiquette and be safe.

Modern Aliens
AS you look back at history and the invention of civilization it seems to have taken place a approximately the same time in different parts of the world. This is a curious coincidence how is it that all over the world across vast oceans and land masses. Humans after living on this planet for millions of years all the sudden start to plant crops and gather together in town and cities. Communicate with each other developed writing to communicate with the past. Then they can build on the collective consciousness of others and start the process of civilization. Now that paragraph does not sound that amazing but it is... That is the difference between us and all other animal life on this planet. Why did dogs not do this or cats. They have been here just as long as us maybe longer. What about Chimpanzees the have four fingers and a thumb they can manipulate objects they can think and there brains are not far removed from ours. Why did they not evolve in to a civilized species. This is the question of life and long ago people explained this with Religion. With the enlightening come the questions Who am I?? Why am I here?? What is this place?? And yes I will die..... It is a limited existence there is a time limit. Once you have a conscious and become self aware. Then your mortality is inevitable. Then there is fear no animal wants to die. You will fight for life with your last breath. So people developed religion to calm peoples fears and to control the masses for the purpose of gaining power over them. The same way the use of money is a way to control people and make them do what you want them to. Money and Religion are the two leverage devices civilization uses to manipulate people. And they have since the beginning of time. Deep inside our human soul we know there is a God someone started all of this And we have tried to explain this in many many different ways. We worshiped the SUN the MOON the STARS rocks that fall from the sky Gold all kinds of Animals. Wisdom. We worship anything and everything because we don't know and we are desperately searching for answers. So there is a problem with our soul we are lost and empty inside. We are not at peace on this planet.
Now why is it we can only eat about 20 % of the vegetation on this planet and if you look closely at the plants we do eat they come from three precise places on the planet the birth places of civilization. There are just a handful of plants that feed the whole worlds population. And they originate in these places. The first is wheat from the Middle east. Then there is Rice from the far east. Then there is all the plants that come from South America Potatoes, Tomatoes, Corn, Squash, Beans. There are others but these are the plants that feed this world the main plants and look at where they originated. Now why is it we can't eat all the other plants on this planet the trees the bushes why can't we eat grass,, weeds are we indigenous to this planet or are we from somewhere else and did we bring our food with us. Are we a hybrid with an ape from this planet and an alien from another planet. Are we a cancer on this planet planted here 10,000 years ago for some purpose unknown to us. Are we just waiting for the return of the Aliens that seeded this planet with there seed. Who knows but it is hard to worship the Sun now that we know what it is and it is hard to worship the Moon now we know what it is And it is hard to worship tales told by people who lived in tents and wiped there ass with there hands and were living in fear of all the things that happen on this planet that they did not understand and had no knowledge of Volcanoes Earthquakes Tsunami's Meteors Fossils. Any other natural disasters that we see all the time now. With our global view of the planet. WE need to move past Religion and Money and try and reach a new since of consciousness Go ahead and evolve into the star people we came from ........

Our Troops
People keep saying on facebook we support our troops that is a lie if you really supported our troops you would vote these Republican bastards out of office and bring the boys home and stop spending all that money on the military Who are we fighting anyway China I don't think so they own Walmart they are taking money out of this country hand over fist. Everything we use is made in China we don't make nothing here anymore except babies. T Boone Pickens said this is the largest transfer of wealth in the history of man all the money we spend on fuel from the Arabs and all the commerce with China. This country can't not stand that big of a trade deficit for to long. Sure we can print more money but it won't be worth anything. And what is the Republican answer to this problem lets be the big bully on the block and go and exploit third world countries. Yes lets steal there resources and invade their countries put our young men in harms way to strip the wealth from the country Where is all the oil money going from Iraq Its not balancing our budget is it. The price is not going down is it. The GREED of American business is unbelievable. And since big business owns our government we the American people have no say in anything anymore. We are becoming just another third world country to be exploited. Stagnate less and less opportunity everyday if you don't have it you are not going to get it. Now we have social unrest the young form gangs and take what they need to survive in a GREED driven society. Where it is all about what you have not who you are. This country is in sad shape morally bankrupt. That is why our Kids and grand kids may have to pay for the polices we implement now and the greed we show to the rest of the world. Looking back in history great power is followed by great suffering. Look at Egypt. Greece, Persia, Roma, Germany all great empires at one time now just little countries. And they were almost destroyed in there defeat. The population of these countries were devastated and the scare is still a part of their national personality. There is one way to fix this situation get the companies out of government turn it back over to the people And regulate greedy people and companies . Never happen!!!!!!!!!! So don't say you Support the Troops if you are not willing to take the hard line and change the system and bring them HOME. for good..Or till next time someone wants to steal the resourses of a third world country.

Trinity
Tonight is the big game Shallowater vs Trinity. They are both coming in with two loses and they both lost to Lamesa. Even tho Shallowater beat Lamesa in their first game and lost to Trinity in their first meeting. So the stage is set for a really good game. Shallowater with a record of 13 wins and 2 loses with two Tournament Championships The Sundown and The Levelland and in the Levelland they had to over come Frendship and district rival Cooper. For a small school like Shallowater that was quite the accomplishment.
And win or lose it has been a great season for the girls. They really came out and played some steady basketball. And it is a shame to have the whole season riding on this one game but they came out flat and tired last week against Lamesa and got beat. That all night party over at Cagles just killed them. And you have to remember when you are number one everybody wants to knock you off. So they are going to try their hardest and play their best game against you. So you can't have a emotional let down just because you beat a team bad the first time. You can't look past teams you have to play everyone the same.
Looking at the game tonight I my self would double team Breckland the whole game with pressure the whole court. If she is going to beat us I would make her work for it. Put your two best defences players on her and run a triangle zone in the paint. A two one zone not a one two. In this way you can stop the short jump shot and still have a post player under the basket to stop the penetration. Don't press them get back into your zone and pressure their point guard if you don't get back they will fast break you. You say why would you do that well because they only have one player who can beat us and that is their point guard If you take her out of the game then they are not a very good team. With her passing and decision making and 3 point shooting they are a really good team. She is the key so turn her off this game with pressure. Don't let her ever get comfortable that is the way to beat them. And once you get a lead don't go to the bench pour it on them don't let it be close at the end. That is why they lost the first time had a ten point lead in the second quarter and the coach went to the bench and they took advantage of the subs and came back. You can't do that against the good teams. But that is why you play the games to learn and our Middle school coaches are learning just like the players. It is one thing to play and a whole other to coach. And it takes practice experience dedication and an open mind to be a good coach. And I think all of our coaches have those qualities. The main thing is to Educate and Motivate. Then after that there is a lot of way to look at the game the season. Hey my Mob team I don't care if they win or lose so everybody plays the same amount. Maybe that is the way our school coaches are they want to get everyone playing time and that is a good thing.. That's enough of this Good Luck Girls...
