First Winter Day

It;s windy Wednesday a cold front moves in
November 17th the winter begins
Just another season of snow and of rain
Or is this a more menacing  frigged refrain

Could this be the cold that the warming foretold
Are the sea currants changing the climates control
Is this the place where the process begins
Where the ice slowly engulfs us once again.

It is so so cold for a November day
The clouds the darkness the sun has no rays
It seems so weak up there in the sky
No power no heat it surely won't die

The wood in the fire is burning away
As the house moans and creeks from the wind as she sways
The doors and windows  there whistle is gloom
And the shutters they slap at the walls of this tomb

Frozen birds fall from the sky
Will the cats and dogs eat out there eyes
Or will they lay there to be covered with Ice
And wait on the worms to eat all there lice

It's just the winter It's just the first day
They'll be many more to come and to play
Don't be afraid and don't be  distraught
Spring will be here with just another thought
